Founded in 2001, The Adobe Café & Bakery was born from a simple question: how do you turn a moment of uncertainty into something meaningful?
After the layoff of her husband from a local business, Jennifer Swenson looked ahead to the future of her growing family. With a passion for cooking and experience in food service, she chose to take a chance — and create something of her own.
The journey started in a small, broken-down building known as the “Little Adobe,” once destined to be torn down. Using their last savings, John and Jennifer restored the space, brought it up to code, and opened a café that seated just 14 guests on a good day.
Despite its size, the café was frequently packed — a clear sign that the community had found something special.
As demand continued to grow, the Little Adobe quickly became too small. Over the next five years, John and Jennifer reinvested everything they earned to expand into the neighboring restaurant space, which required significant renovation.
In 2006, The Little Adobe officially became The Adobe, allowing the café to grow while staying true to its roots.
Today, The Adobe Café & Bakery continues to focus on everything comforting — freshly baked goods, delicious café foods, and homemade treats prepared from scratch.
Our offerings have expanded to include:
Fresh baked goods made daily
Full catering services
Pre-packaged homemade goodies
An entire in-house line of fudge, truffles, and handcrafted candies
Our newest endeavor brought us even closer to the community with the opening of a second location in the heart of Reserve — The Adobe Does Café, located just six miles away.
This expansion allows us to serve more guests while maintaining the same quality, care, and attention to detail.
John and Jennifer Swenson, their children, and their dedicated staff attribute The Adobe’s success to the best customers anyone could ask for and a wonderfully supportive community.
Every day, we are grateful to welcome guests from hundreds of countries, backgrounds, and walks of life. Hospitality has always been at the heart of everything we do.

This past weekend I was driving from Tucson to Salt Lake City and really needed food. There was no service in this area so we stopped at this cafe seemingly in the middle of nowhere… it was amazing! Everything was so good! We got coffee, many pastries, and the elk. Service was very fast and friendly. Definitely worth the stop!Posted on Trisha LukeTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. One of the best bakerys I've ever been to. Tha bake was so creative with unique creations, like a matching cheesecake brownie thing. A blueberry cheesecake Danish. The chocolate chip cookie was one of the best. Apparently hes always baking new things. It was all reasonably priced. Highly recommend. I loved it.Posted on Derek NemoTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. We love this placePosted on Scott RTrustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Excellent food even though it's in the middle of nowhere. I got the half order of biscuits with sausage gravy and 1 over medium egg. It was still a full meal so I'm glad I went with the smaller portion. It was fluffy and savory, the egg cooked perfectly. It was only $7.96. That's a bargain. The woman working was also very friendly and attentive. The store also had a lot of local goods for sale, from honey to desserts.Posted on Corrine Bennett
